Helping independent artists turn rough demos & recordings into release-ready tracks
Mixing and mastering services helping independent artists get killer releases.
About Scott Baber
Hi, I’m Scott — co-founder and lead technical engineer at Somni Studios in Bend, Oregon. Since 2016, I’ve worked with artists across the country to bring their musical visions to life — whether that’s crafting a polished, release-ready mix, providing additional production layers, or helping a song evolve from demo to full-blown single.
I come from a background in classical and jazz performance, and I bring over 25 years of musical experience into every session. My approach to engineering is rooted in capturing authentic sound — the emotional core of a song — without burying it behind flashy mixing tricks. If there’s motion and meaning already in the track, I’ll help bring it forward.
Trusted By Touring and Indie Artists Alike
I’ve had the pleasure of working both in studio and live with artists like Adam Deitch (Lettuce), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Leadbetter Band, Double Jump, and LAIK, among others. While Somni Studios is based in Oregon, I regularly collaborate with artists outside the region through structured remote workflows — from Zoom production reviews to clear timelines and quick turnarounds.
Whether we’re building your track from scratch or dialing in your final mix, I keep communication sharp, the vibe easy-going, and the results aligned with your vision.
Services for Remote Artists & Bands
If you’re outside the area, here’s how we can work together:
- 🎧 Mixing & Mastering – Fast turnaround, emotionally-rich, release-ready
- 🎹 Additional Production – Session players and layered instrumentation
- ✂️ Editing & Tuning – Vocals, instruments, rhythm, timing
- 🔄 Remote Review Sessions – Scheduled Zooms to keep things moving
For Artists Building a Career, Not Just a Track
I love working with indie rock/pop artists who are building careers, not just single tracks.
Beyond records, I’m developing a nonprofit label model that reinvests in emerging talent —
helping artists help other artists grow.
Let’s build your sound. Whether you’re recording your first EP or polishing a full-length,
I’d love to help you create something you’re proud to share.

Matt was SUPER helpful and fun when I went to record in his studio, super knowledgeable and fun to nerd out with. Was a great time watching him mic and master and comparing his professional skills with my bedroom producer skills. Not only this, but his live sound work with our school concerts has been top notch year after year.Posted on Zander ReeseTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Matt and Scott are extremely professional and good at what they do. My band went to Somni Studios to track three songs and later went back to track drums for another seven songs and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I highly recommend Somni Studios to anyone looking to take their recordings to the next level. 10/10 will be going back.Posted on Paul StreichanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
