Who Is “Mohawk” Matt Fletcher

For over 25 years, I’ve been obsessed with playing, capturing, and mixing the raw, unhinged energy of the ska and punk scene. I’m “Mohawk” Matt Fletcher, and my dedication to this sound is why bands trust me with their records. From grinding out shows in the explosive ’90s punk scene of Southern California to running my remote studio here in Bend, Oregon, music is my life. I’m the specialist you call when you need your tracks to sound authentically impactful and instantly iconic.

Your Tracks Need the Perfect Ska Upstroke and the Punk Punch

You aren’t looking for a generic mix — you want that specific, explosive power of the 1995–2005 Warped Tour era. That’s what I do best.

Trained in the intensity of the scene, I know how to dial in cutting guitar tones, emphasize the essential syncopated ska upstroke, and deliver a drum mix that provides a solid foundation for your songs to cut through the noise.

I don’t just mix your songs — I make sure they deliver the authentic sound you and your fans deserve.

Seamless Transformation, No Matter Your Location

As a multi-instrumentalist who’s lived the ska/punk life, I connect with your vision instantly. I built my career by making high-impact recordings accessible to upcoming bands — and that dedication has only grown.

When you work with me, you get decades of deep genre knowledge and hands-on support every step of the way.

My philosophy for every mix is simple:

“Make it sound how the client wants.”

When You Work With Me, You Get

Authentic Power: Mixes that sound like the golden era — not a modern, cookie-cutter imitation.

Maximum Impact: My meticulous attention to detail ensures your record is loud, dynamic, and ready for vinyl or streaming.

A Trusted Partner: I create an inspiring atmosphere that captures the raw energy and emotion of your best performance.

Stop sounding like a local demo. Start sounding like a legend.

Your tracks are waiting for the Mohawk Matt treatment.

Matt was SUPER helpful and fun when I went to record in his studio, super knowledgeable and fun to nerd out with. Was a great time watching him mic and master and comparing his professional skills with my bedroom producer skills. Not only this, but his live sound work with our school concerts has been top notch year after year.

Matt and Scott are extremely professional and good at what they do. My band went to Somni Studios to track three songs and later went back to track drums for another seven songs and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I highly recommend Somni Studios to anyone looking to take their recordings to the next level. 10/10 will be going back.

Yes. My mixes hit hard while keeping their dynamics. I use aggressive parallel compression and careful limiting to meet streaming loudness targets without killing your tone.
I treat horns like a choir — balanced, wide, and punchy. Subtle room reverb and compression ensure they hit hard without overpowering vocals or guitars.

Send 3–5 songs that capture your ideal sound. Example: “Drums like Less Than Jake – Hello Rockview, guitar like NOFX – Punk In Drublic.” The more specific, the better.

Export all tracks at the same start point, minimum 24-bit WAV. Clearly label everything (e.g., “GTR_Rhythm_Distorted,” “Snare_Top”) and include a rough mix.
